Intelligent Worming has developed a very special worming program that protects your broodmare and her unborn foal from worm infestation and damage.
We recognise the implications of a foal having zero immunity to worms when they are born and ensure that the foal is not put at any risk.
The price for twelve months protection, including all worm egg counts and wormers, is £98.50.
Register your broodmare now and start her protection befoe, during or after coverage. It is never too late.
A broodmare joined Intelligent Worming in her 6th month of gestation. This was in November and we identified that she had a critically high worm burden. Both her and her foal are now doing well.
A foal joined Intelligent Worming at nine months of age. We identified he was infested with redworm and roundworm before it became fatal. He is still alive and on Intelligent Worming.
In both of the above cases a worming program was being followed by the owners!!
All wormers used in pregnant and lactating mares should be checked to confirm that the manufacturers have carried out safety studies.
Equitape and Eqvalan Duo have not been subject to safety tests in pregnant and lactating mares.
Equest should be used for lactating mares subject to veterinary advice. This is due to the fact that it is not suitable in foals under 4 months of age.
Equest Pramox should not be used in pregnant or lactating mares.
Verm X cannot be used in pregnant mares.
Mares that are not on an Intelligent Worming Program should be wormed throughout their gestation with the final treatment given four / two weeks prior to foaling. The mare can pass intestinal threadworms to the suckling foal through the milk or colostrum.
Use Equimax on arrival as it is the ONLY licensed product to use in pregnant and lactating mares to treat against the nematode worms and tapeworm in a single dose. Follow up with an ivermectin wormer if the mare stays for longer than eight weeks. This is available from our shop.
We can work with you in partnership to arrange a full stud worming program and management service. This will cover resident mares, young stock and stallions as well as incorporating visiting mares.
