We have never had a customer or client call us to say that they are unhappy with our service and our annual renewal rate is over 95%. The clients that we have wish that they had heard of our service earlier and do recommend us to other yards / horse owners.
The customers who joined us when we first started six years ago and who are on a low risk monitoring program now reap the benefits of the program, both financial and in terms of the health of their horses. The majority of horses do not have worms! (and we can prove it through six years of worm egg count results). Where horses do still have positive readings we know why and therefore how to treat them. (For Example; The pasture may be contaminated, or the horse has a low immune system, or they go to stud regularly and pick up larvae there.)
Intelligent WormingTM covers all of the worming methods in the UK. It is NOT another alternative. All of the worming advice that you will have received or read about is assessed to determine which one is the correct solution for you.
In simple terms Intelligent WormingTM is a review and assessment process to select the most appropriate worming program. It is not another way of worming.
In this situation the only way to know which of the conflicting advice should be taken is to complete a risk assessment
The prices that we use are extremely competitive and Intelligent Worming is not expensive.
The management fee covers you for twelve months service from your personal consultant. If you change yards then call or email your consultant with details of the change in your circumstances.
If you move to a yard with a fixed worming program then we can register this for automatic delivery. There is a very strong likelihood that if you discuss our service with the yard manager, once you have settled down there, that they may decide to move the yard to our managed service anyway.
No there are not. All of the charges are in our initial quote and if any extra wormers are required then we always contact you before sending these. You will NEVER receive products that you have not asked for or are not aware of the price.
The only additional charges that we make are late payment charges where a customer is repeated late in paying or has a standing order that is repeatedly returned.
There are many horses that join us for an Intelligent WormingTM Program who have high initial worm egg count results. The owners of these horses have cared for them for many years and always wormed them, however the horses have worms. In some cases the horses are poor doers but not always. Many horses learn to adapt to carrying a permanent worm burden and look very well despite having worms.
One of the reasons for this is the horse’s natural immune system. If a horse has a weak immune system then he will be prone to worm infestations. Equally a horse with a strong immune system can survive in fields that have worm larvae in them but he naturally repels them.
This is why two horses that have been kept identically for many years can have completely different worm burdens.
Intelligent WormingTM will ensure that your horse is not one of the ones that has a low immune system and is permanently carrying worms. How do you know for sure that this is not your horse?
That’s great. You’ve already made a start, so why would you need an Intelligent WormingTM Program?
The customers that we have who have previously carried out worm egg counts felt nervous about stopping worming on the basis of the results. They do not have the knowledge to be comfortable about interpreting the results.
It would be unwise to stop chemical worming just because you have a couple of low worm egg count readings. You need to ensure that you protect your horse from tapeworm, bots and encysted worms, none of which will show up on a worm egg count result.
We take all of this into account and coupled with the risk assessment information and the worm egg count results select the most appropriate worming strategy for your horse/pony or yard.
A lot of people have a busy life and could do so much with the time that they save from constantly reviewing their worming program.
Intelligent Worming provides peace of mind.
The cost savings are achieved in two ways:
[1] If you have chemical wormers then we will recommend the most cost effective brands and chemical combinations.
[2] Once we can confirm that your horse or pony has a neglible worm burden then the number of treatments in a year will reduce to two or three (worm egg counts and wormers).
We will always kickstart an Intelligent WormingTM program with a worm egg count. However the time of year you contact us may not be the best time to take the initial reading in which case we would not waste your money by recommending it. Instead we would advise to maintain chemical coverage in the short term.
In the first year, if your horse has worms then we will carry out targeted chemical treatment and offer optional worm egg counts. We would recommend a resistance worm egg count to check for benzimidazole resistance worms. In subsequent years there would be a maximum of three worm egg counts a year, reducing to one or two after worms have been eliminated. If positive results are returned then your personal consultant will discuss the options and the cost of these and you can choose which one you prefer.
We operate a cost effectiveness policy on all programs, and this is subject to regular audit to ensure that we do indeed save money for our customers. We have never lost a customer because they felt the program was becoming too expensive.
We advise all of our customers to have a blood sample taken by their vet and sent to the veterinary team at Liverpool University for a tapeworm ELISA test. If they choose not to do this then, as a precaution, we would always include a tapeworm treatment annually. This would be included in the most cost effective way possible.
Intelligent Worming is still ideal, as we would make certain that your horse or pony had the correct chemical at the appropriate time of year.
The majority of our customers have been worming their horses for many years and are completely suprised to find out that it has not been working. Intelligent Worming provides peace of mind that this is not happening to your horse.
It is always a good idea to complete a risk assessment of your situation anyway, just to make sure that you are doing right by your horse.
